The BTRDA Toyo Tires Clubmans Rallycross Championship makes a triumphant return to Pembrey Circuit this weekend (August 10/11), with a bumper entry list of more than 40 cars set to serve up all manner of fast-pace thrills and spills.
In what is the second visit to the picturesque home of Welsh motorsport, the BTRDA contingent are set to get the pulses of those in attendance racing as they begin to heads towards the business end of the season – with titles across each and every class up for grabs.
Basking in the summer sun in May, the championship’s first visit to Pembrey proved to be a pulsating affair as a variety of cars and drivers threw themselves into the battle for supremacy – all around the highly-acclaimed multi-surface layout that was launched last year at Pembrey.
Blyton Park provided the most recent test for the championship last time out as the 2019 campaign reached the halfway marker and things couldn’t be any closer, with just 19 points separating the top five in the overall standings.
Currently sitting on the top spot of the production 1600 16v class, Dale Ford has achieved a perfect score of 160 points, having won all four rounds so far this season. Nathan Jones leads the chasing pack and sits second in the overall production points, pairing consistency with his rapid speed – the highlight being a pair of wins at Blyton.
The battle for the classic title sees Vince Bristow sit just two points adrift of Marc Jones, having both won two events in their respective categories. Although sharing the spoils this season, both drivers will be keen to establish a bigger gap to the rest of the field.
Other notable names to keep an eye on over the course of the weekend includes Alfie Jeakins, who has enjoyed a trio of strong results this season, clinching a spectacular victory in round one. Up until now Jeakins has outperformed second place man Charlie Titcombe, whilst Luke Constantine can’t be discounted from the battle too.
One of the top events that Pembrey stages over the course of the season, the BTRDA Toyo Tires Clubmans Rallycross Championship is not to be missed and tickets for the event will be available to purchase from £12.00.
